Agnico Eagle subscribed C$1 million for four million subscription receipts in W2 Critical Minerals, according to White Gold's October 22, 2026 announcement. W2 is White Gold's wholly owned subsidiary awaiting a spinout of its Yukon critical mineral assets. If you hold AEM on the TSX or NYSE, the subscription gives your company a route into a separate exploration business, with conditional governance and future financing rights attached. What does that backing actually buy us?

The planned transfer covers six Yukon properties: Bridget, Loonie, Wolf, Hunker, Hayes and Toonie, as described in White Gold's July 21 announcement. The portfolio includes copper, molybdenum and tungsten targets alongside other critical minerals. White Gold's May 5 transaction outline says it will continue advancing its flagship gold project. For your AEM holding, the attraction is exposure to discovery work across another group of properties. We would judge that investment on exploration progress, because the assets being transferred are exploration projects with work still to fund.

The October 22 financing release says Agnico's investor rights agreement takes effect when the arrangement completes. It allows one board nominee, increasing to two if W2's board reaches eight members. Participation and top-up rights can maintain Agnico's interest or increase it to 19.99%; the agreement terminates below 5% ownership. The release leaves Agnico's resulting ownership percentage unstated. We would treat the participation rights as a choice about future capital: the release describes no commitment to finance subsequent exploration or construction. Using those rights would be a further investment decision for your company.

White Gold's August 12 transaction outline provides for its shareholders to receive one W2 share for every five White Gold shares, while keeping their White Gold holdings. That outline envisaged White Gold retaining approximately 19.9% of W2 after financing, before the offering was enlarged later in August. The dividend recipient is the White Gold shareholder; if you own AEM, exposure runs through Agnico's corporate investment. We still need the final ownership figures to measure that exposure. W2 also intended to seek a TSX Venture listing after the spinout, with completion subject to approvals and listing requirements.

The October 22 release puts the proceeds of the completed tranches in escrow, with each receipt converting into a W2 share when release conditions are satisfied. A final tranche remains to close in the fully subscribed C$10 million offering. White Gold's August 28 financing update earmarked net proceeds for exploration, advancement of the assets and corporate purposes. In Newmont Posts Record Third-Quarter Adjusted Profit, we followed the cash between investment and shareholder returns. Here, our next test is how much cash reaches W2 and what exploration programme it funds; gross subscriptions alone cannot establish the results your investment will earn.

We will check again by October 30 for the final tranche, distribution record date and confirmed ownership; the October 22 release gives no firm closing date.
