About David Baskin
David founded Baskin Financial Services Inc. in 1992 as a boutique investment counsel firm. After growing steadily for five years, assets under his management increased sharply from $25 million in 2000 to almost $300 million today. Baskin Financial now employs three registered counselors with a total staff of twelve. The firm is registered and conducts its business in five provinces. Prior to establishing Baskin Financial, David served as president of the equity investment arm of Canadian Corporate Funding Limited. He was responsible for Canada’s largest Small Business Investment Limited Partnership, with over $100,000,000 under management. From 1985 to 1992 he was involved in more than 40 private equity deals involving small- and medium-sized Canadian companies. He also worked as a commercial loans officer for the Bank of Montreal and practiced commercial law. David also contributes insightful commentary on the markets and has appeared on the CBC National, CBC Newsworld, Business News Network, and CP24. He has also been interviewed by amongst others, CBC Radio, the Globe and Mail, the National Post, Toronto Star, Reuters News Service, Bloomberg and Canadian Press.
